Tono Dolce is a community chorus for Southeastern Connecticut, established in 2012. Its focus is to bring the joy of music to friends and neighbors in the Ledyard and Gales Ferry community and the surrounding New London county.
Tono Dolce is open to anyone who is at least a freshman in high school, following a simple audition (see below for details on the next open rehearsal). Rehearsals Monday evenings, and perform at least twice yearly, once in the spring and once in the fall.
Tono Dolce has also run a program during the summer months, which is intended to help keep students singing between school years and provide singing fundamentals for all participants. This program is concluded with a workshop and small concert to showcase the pieces we've worked on.
Tono Dolce has contributed to several community events throughout Southeastern CT, including the Ledyard Light Parade and Carol Sing, the Stonington Stroll and Tree Lighting, St. Luke Lutheran Church's Community Christmas concert, and various other singing opportunities.
If you are interested in joining or contributing to Tono Dolce, please see our donation page or e-mail us for more information.
Tono Dolce is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Meet our directors...
Luke Kalbach is the choral director and co-founder of Tono Dolce. He holds his Bachelor's degree in music from the University of Connecticut, where he spent time under the baton of Dr. Peter Bagley, Dr. Eric Rice, and Mark Singleton. While at UConn, Luke studied voice with Dr. Susan Quiggly-Duggan. Since 2012, Luke has also been Director of Music and Arts Ministry at the GNL Church of Christ.
Luke has performed with numerous types of choral ensembles such as LHS Chamber Choir and Vocal Jazz; University of Connecticut Concert and Festival Choirs and Collegium Musicum; and the Vernon Chorale. As a tenor soloist, he has performed at numerous weddings and recitals. His experience includes all styles of choral singing - from 16th century sacred motets through modern vocal jazz. His own musical tastes have been shaped by ensembles such as The King's Singers, Vox1, Chanticleer, Bobby McFerrin, Amici Forever and Manhattan Transfer.
Luke is a long-time resident of Southeastern Connecticut, currently living in Norwich with his wife, Kelly. They have three children, Kayla, Wyatt and Solana. Luke appreciates his “home-town” and is committed to giving back to it. Through his work, he hopes to foster camaraderie in the community that lasts for many generations. Thanks to his first musical mentor, Dr. Jamie Spillane, Luke always encourages his ensembles to work hard and achieve their greatest potential, living by the mantra, “It's more fun to be good.”
